ALDA is sad to share the news of the passing of former ALDA President Cheryl Heppner on October 14, 2023.
Cheryl was ALDA President in 1997 and served on the ALDA board from 1996-1998. She won the I. King Jordan Distinguished Service award in 2000, presented by ALDA President, Ken Arcia.
She also won the Robert R Davila ALDA Angel award for her long-time advocacy work in 2011. The new Cheryl Heppner Advocacy Award was created in 2016 when Cheryl was presented the award for her Advocacy.
Cheryl, and her husband Fred, led several couples workshops at ALDAcon in the 1990’s. Many of us also remember Cheryl with her service dog(s) at various ALDAcons over the years.
She also wrote a book called “Seeds of Disquiet” that many of us have in our library.
Cheryl was Executive Director of the Northern Virgina Resource Center (NVRC) from 1991-2015.
NVRC sent out this Press Release. Goddess-speed, Cheryl ❤
