WOW! That was a fun and busy quarter here at the Communications Committee. So much going on with ALDAcon and everything else that happened. If you have comments, please get in touch.
The website continues to grow and be a living document with information about:
- Election results
- Hints and tips for traveling with hearing loss from the Board.
- Gift suggestions for the people in your life with hearing loss
- Chapter/Group updates
In addition, ALDA had it’s best holiday season fundraising quarter ever. Giving Tuesday, Amazon Smile and various Facebook fundraising events all helped make this the most successful fundraising campaign in ALDA’s history. This will be helped with the updates to the Charity Navigator and Guidestar ALDA profiles allowing us to use those stamps of approval on all fundraising outreach.
Naturally the big push right now is to help spread the word about ALDAcon 2022. Your communications team is hard at work preparing graphics, updating the website, preparing eblast announcements and preparing to make a big push on social media to help make next year’s convention the best one yet. With the recent announcement of Ken Arcia and Tina Chidress as planning co-chairs and Carrie Levin as the program chair we are all excited to see what they will come up with. Of course we are always looking for more volunteers to help run various aspects of ALDAcon so feel free to contact us if you’d like to get involved.
Hope you are enjoying the new newsletter layout. We wanted to create a new feel and modernize the look. You can still follow links to read full articles on our website and we will continue to tweak the feel and look in quarters to come. If you have any concerns about accessibility, please let us know. Grace Avila has been doing wonderful work to keep the newsletter feel fresh for your enjoyment, and Corin Goodwin has been pulling double or even triple duties to help with editing as well as her work with the website and social media.
In the quarter to come we hope to have even more exciting news helping automate various aspects of the membership database and increasing both content and advertising on the website. It’s going to be a busy year and we look forward to continuing to help ALDA grow.
In addition, your communications committee continues to work closely with the board of directors and with other committees including membership, sponsorship and the awards committee, to increase efficiency and clarity within the organization. We encourage people to reach out and volunteer for any of these efforts. If you would like to be involved with the communications committee please feel free to reach out at anytime by email: smediachair@alda.org
