CURRENT ALDA CHAPTERS AND GROUPS

In order to provide support at a local level ALDA has several chapters located around the country.  ALDA, Inc. grants a Chapter Charter to any group of four or more current members of ALDA, Inc. who pledge that their Chapter will maintain an outreach program that will include ongoing efforts to identify and recruit new members, to work with other organizations and deaf service providers for the common good of people with hearing loss, and to promote the existence, purposes and functions of ALDA Inc. whenever and wherever possible.  An ALDA Chapter further pledges to pursue one or more of the general objectives of ALDA, which are to provide education, advocacy, role models, and support (EARS) for late-deafened adults.

Often it is difficult to establish an ALDA Chapter in a local area because of the required features of an ALDA Chapter.  So, ALDA also allows people to form an ALDA Group, which may have a less formal structure and which may conduct its affairs entirely online.  Like an ALDA Chapter, an ALDA Group pledges to maintain an outreach program that will include ongoing efforts to identify and recruit new members, to work with other organizations and deaf service providers for the common good of people with hearing loss, and to promote the existence, purposes and functions of ALDA Inc. whenever and wherever possible.  An ALDA Group also pledges to pursue one or more of the general objectives of ALDA, which are to provide education, advocacy, role models, and support (EARS) for late-deafened adults.
