Information About ALDA Chapters and Groups
In order to provide support at a local level, ALDA encourages the establishment and maintenance of local affiliates in various locations around the country. Those affiliates are of two types — ALDA Chapters and ALDA Groups. ALDA, Inc. grants a Chapter Charter to any group of four or more current members of ALDA, Inc. who submit a petition to become an ALDA Chapter and pledge to pursue one or more of the general objectives of ALDA, which are to provide Education, Advocacy, Role Models and Support (EARS) for late-deafened adults. In addition, ALDA Chapters pledge to maintain an outreach program which, at minimum, shall include ongoing efforts to identify and recruit new members, to work with other organizations and deaf service providers for the common good of people with hearing loss, and to promote the existence, purposes and functions of ALDA Inc. whenever and wherever possible.

To be recognized as an ALDA Chapter or Group a petition must be submitted to the ALDA, Inc. Board of Directors requesting to be granted a charter as an official ALDA Chapter or ALDA Group. Once that charter is granted, it must be renewed every year that the organization wishes to continue its status as an ALDA Chapter or ALDA Group. Those petitions are extremely short and can be completed online.
