In News by ALDA News

Attention California Residence!
Join the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR)
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advisory Committee (DHHAC)

Are you interested in making an impact on the provision of vocational rehabilitation services statewide? Do you have experience in representing the interests of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Adult Late Deafened, and Deafblind communities? If so, we want to hear from you. We are offering an exciting opportunity to serve on the Department of Rehabilitation’s (DOR) Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advisory Committee (DHHAC).

The DHHAC consists of at least nine, but no more than thirteen individuals who are selected to give an appropriate representation of our consumer population. The members provide expertise and advice to the Department on issues and policies related to the provision of vocational rehabilitation services to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened and deafblind. The DHHAC meets at the DOR headquarters in Sacramento, California, usually three to four times per year. The Department covers travel expenses of the members. Geographical hubs for web conferencing at DOR offices are also available in selected communities.

If you are interested in serving on the DHHAC, please complete the attached application form and include a résumé describing your experience with the DOR services, programs and any other related areas of expertise that you feel would contribute to this advisory committee.

Please return it to us by March 20, 2020. If you are not able to participate, please share or pass on the form to someone you believe would be interested.

We look forward to hearing from you. We will review all applications and make recommendations to our Director to fill the committee vacancies. You may contact Monica Handley, DOR’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Program Manager at (916) 273-3428 or monica.handley@dor.ca.gov if you have any questions.

Please forward to anyone who may be interested.

Sincerely,
