In ALDAcon, ALDAcon 2022, News by ALDA News

celebrating diversityALDA is now accepting workshop proposals for its 33rd annual convention! ALDAcon will be held at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California, October 19 – 23, 2022. If you have a workshop idea that will enrich late-deafened lives, we invite you to fill out and submit the call for papers form to the ALDAcon Program Committee for review.

ALDAcon 2022’s theme is Celebrating Diversity! Workshop submissions are open to everyone. In tribute to our theme, we welcome presenters with hearing loss who also identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ, women or another minority. We encourage all presenters to use the list of workshop tracks in the CFP for inspiration, but all ideas will be considered and innovative, creative proposals are welcome. Workshop possibilities are as diverse as you are!

Every year, attendees look forward to ALDAcon. It’s a special place where people with varying degrees of hearing loss can learn and share experiences in a completely accessible environment. You’ll find sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices (ALDs) and real-time captioning (CART) projected onto large, easy-to-read screens in every workshop and scheduled event. Whether your mode of communication is signing, lip reading, writing, using an ALD, cochlear implant, hearing aid or all of the above, ALDA upholds its “Whatever Works!” motto.

SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: Workshop proposals are due by the MAY 1, 2022 (11:59 pm ET)

The Program Committee will notify you of its decision no later than June 1, 2022 (11:59 pm ET). Selected presenters are asked to submit a high-resolution headshot and an organizational logo (if any) for the Conference Program Book by July 1, 2022. Presentation materials (PowerPoint, visual aids or script) are due by September 1, 2022.

Please note, workshop presenters are responsible for their own costs, including travel, lodging, food and registration fees. ALDA is an all-volunteer organization and we genuinely value every contribution. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you. On behalf of the ALDAcon Program Committee, we look forward to your workshop proposal and hope to see you at ALDAcon 2022.
